Possible Mailing List Problems

Is it a problem with the MustangBandBoosters web site mail function?

Maybe, but most probably not - Our web site and the mailing list functions are handled by an Internet Service Provider (ISP) that handles other clients with hundreds of thousands of e-mail addresses in their mailing lists. We use the same software as those monster organizations. It is very unlikely that our ISP has a problem sending out our mailing list messages - they wouldn't be in business for long if they did.

Is it a problem with your computer?

Possibly, but probably not - There are several software programs that you may have loaded on your computer (from Microsoft, Netscape, or Eudora, for example) to process e-mail messages. Alternatively, you may access your e-mail messages using an Internet site such as Yahoo! Mail. Depending upon which method you use to access your messages, there are parameters that are set by default and that you can change to control the definition of "spam" or "bulk" e-mail. These parameters may be causing messages that are received at your e-mail address to be deposited in a "Junk" mailbox, or even to be deleted before you see them.

Check your message processing options to ensure that you are not inadvertently deleting or otherwise hiding incoming messages that are received from the MustangBandBoosters.com web address or other addresses used regularly by individuals who send messages to our mailing lists.

Is it a problem with your office or home network?

Very possibly - Many offices and home networks are equiped with firewalls and spam protection software. Often these safeguards can be modulated to increase or decrease the level of "filtering" that is done.

"Turn down" the level of filtering and/or enter exception parameters to allow messages from MustangBandBoosters.com to pass through the firewall or spam protection software. In an office environment, you will probably have to talk with your System Administrator to get this done.

Is it a problem with your Internet Service Provider or public mailbox host?

Most likely - ISPs regularly regulate the content of messages that pass through their portals. AOL and MSN are notorious for blocking legitimate messages to their subscribers in the name of spam control. Other less rigid public mailbox host services, such as Yahoo! Mail, direct "spam" to a "Bulk" folder. Usually, these services provide a mechanism to moderate the spam controls for specific sources of e-mail messages.

Check with your ISP Technical Support staff to modify their system controls to allow your messages to reach your mailbox. In the case of sites like Yahoo, create your own filter to direct mail from MustangBandBoosters.com directly to your Inbox, so that they aren't lost in the list of messages in the Bulk folder, or routed to the SPAM file.
